Dr. Guerra

Author Juan Guerra, MD
After serving for years as a staff physician partner and OB/GYN generalist at the Permanente Medical Group, Dr. Guerra retired from clinical practice and devotes his energy full-time to writing and family.  He brings the uplifting message of “El Doctorcito” to elementary school children and is working on his second children’s book.

El Doctorcito

Illustrator Victoria Castillo is an artist from Texas. She has illustrated kid lit and cover art for Arte Público Press, done editorial illustrations, created album covers and concept art for animated feature pitches.  She gets very excited by books and series that explore female identity, because it's still so important for media to present positive, flawed and funny female role models from different ethnicities, backgrounds, cultures and ages, and for girls to feel like they can be themselves while also being empowered by the talents and interests they nurture. She loves old sci-fi, caring for cactus and succulents, curating collections of dolls, books, toys, trains, clowns, vinyl records and monsters of various forms and sizes, and traveling whenever she can.

Get your copy of “El Doctorcito”!

Harvard Medical School’s Office for Diversity Inclusion & Community Partnership will raffle off 10 copies of “El Doctorcito” to participants after the event.

Frugal Bookstore, a community bookstore in Roxbury, Massachusetts, is offering a discount on “El Doctorcito” to event participants through March 31st.
