Dr. Claudio L. Morales-Perez has been awarded, the American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship. Tenable for three years, the Fellowship will allow him to continue his research on understanding the molecular mechanisms of post-translational modification enzymes that are linked to multiple types of cancer at Harvard Medical School.

Selected as a Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellow (DPF) in 2018, Dr. Morales-Perez joined the Department of Cell Biology under the guidance of Assistant Professor Maofu Liao. Reflecting upon his time at HMS, he noted that DPF was critical in helping him navigate the challenging transition from graduate student to postdoc, during which time he changed his research topic from Neurobiology to Cancer Biology. The DPF, he said, provided him with the guidance and support from the Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership navigate this new research landscape through providing a community of scholars, helping him increase his professional network, and supporting his development as a scientist.
